Caorle: the Wind Beach, the spiral pavilion where the central path meets the beach

Tourism and hospitality

Wind Beach, Caorle

The project

A tourist resort on the Caorle coast, designed at the scale of the implementation plan: pitches, lodgings, services, greenery and beach in a single design. Finalist at The Plan Award 2015.

The pitches are laid out in parallel rows separated by continuous lines of trees, which give shade and at the same time build the structure of the space. The services are concentrated along a central path running from the entrance down to the sea, and onto this axis face the playing fields, the communal buildings and the pool area.

Where the path meets the beach the design places the singular element: a spiral-plan pavilion that gathers the collective functions and closes the sequence. It is the only building that departs from the orthogonal rule of the rest of the layout, and for that reason becomes its visual landmark.
