Residential and retail
The project
The reorganisation of a portion of urban fabric along Via Roma, at the mouth of Via Unità: partly public, partly private, held together by a single design.
A building in poor condition is demolished and replaced by a contemporary one, housing retail, offices and homes. The perforated wall that clads it is its face to the street: it filters the light, marks the corner and holds together floors with different uses.
All around, the design works on the ground. Flowerbeds, parking and footpaths are permeable, with draining surfaces and grilles that let the water through and stitch the plot to the urban greenery.
The redesign of the plot makes it possible to complete a continuous cycle and pedestrian route, with redesigned crossings, that closes the loop connecting to the railway station. Not one more pavement: an infrastructure with charging points for electric vehicles and bike-sharing stations.
